Monday Photo Meditation: In a Little Fall Light Magic, Hope

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for what materializes when all norms are gone. It's an image that dates back a year almost to the day, to September 11th, 2025, and a phenomenon impossible enough for us to find, in a little fall light magic, hope.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

There's no normal left here anymore.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Drastic color change in the stands of trees across the highway today. Yeah, they're dry, the leaves are friable, and yes, that's drought, but that clear shift to yellow on the top half? That came overnight.  Probably because we got so much rain lat in the day, and its getting into the forties at night — not freezing yet, but when trees are injured by drought, it's enough to do damage. That level of leaf drop? That's early November here, not the first week of September.

Well, it used to be, anyway. There's no normal left here anymore.

That's apparently true on all fronts. It's about to get a lot worse, too, as federal law goes into effect before the holidays and people get kicked off Medicaid. We're staring down what it looks like to be without any medical care whatsoever, for entirely different [yet not unrelated] reasons. I've been here before, most of my life, actually, but I was a lot younger then, and I hadn't already nearly died multiple times.

So as I said last night, I'm equal parts furious, terrified, and exhausted. And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [I'll be adding some new items soon, things we could really use but that I can't justify spending money on right now, like some sheets and towels];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

As the Sun Dances Through the First Golden Leaves

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the newfound fall joy of our nearest star, for sundancing along a path across the sky. It's an extraordinary pair of earrings wrought in figurative form, capturing early autumn magic as the sun dances through the first golden leaves.

Winter is coming, indeed.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That was this morning; the rain showed up in late afternoon, albeit not for long. Up close, you can see the gold on the peaks. As the say, winter is coming.

I've spent two days working full-out on behalf of other people, which is why everything's perpetually late. It does have the one advantage of keeping my mind temporarily off how everything's gone to hell. We're losing our healthcare next month, and no, I don't mean insurance, I mean literally losing not just our doctor but the entire medical practice. This could be the thing that does me in once and for all. Because there's no one here in town, which means we'll have to travel, and I can't travel. I'm been through this whole almost-dying thing already, but it's looking like I'm going to have to gear up for the possibility again. And start rationing meds like crazy.

Winter is coming, indeed.

The Glow That Envelops Autumn's Birth

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the spaces and seasons where earth meets sky, for early fall rains and low-angled light. It's a pair of old-style loop earrings, traditional but updated for contemporary wear, in the blues of the sky and the shades of the glow that envelops autumn's birth.

It really does look like fall now.

Photo copyright Aji Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

This evening brought us a sun dog and storm light, albeit no rain even now, this late in the evening, when it's supposedly sitting practically overhead. But it really does look like fall now.

In theory, we're supposed to get rain over most of the next week or two. We'll believe it when we see it.  But it would be nice to have some good news for once, instead of the endless drumbeat of bad news on every single front lately.

Two rounds of bureaucratic bullshit, entirely different sources, and both know better, so I'm really resentful at having to fight either one.  Add to that the fact that, yes, we are in fact losing not just our second doctor in a year but the whole medical practice, a development that could literally kill me? It's been a shit week in a shit year.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Friday Feature: Finding the Sacred, In the Water and the Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of works that embody the healing properties, and the local beauty, of the First Medicines that bestow life and breath upon our world. It's an old-style necklace on fabulously old beads, and a classic cuff to match, both of them reminding us of the importance now of finding the sacred, in the water and the light.
