Bringing the stairs up to code. The pups are champs, and also appropriated the couch. Sales badly needed, though, and subscribers and shares, too.

At long last, balusters. They only go as high as the landing, but that's a lot to install in one day. They'll get to work on the upper reaches tomorrow, probably. This is one of those things that dictates whether a house is up to code or not (and thus, insurable or not), so this is a huge thing to cross off our list (well, almost).

The pups performed like champs last night: no accidents, no chewing, no squabbles. Of course, we had Raven's big-ass dog bed on the floor, plus a smaller one, so they all had plenty of room to share. And so, naturally, what does Wings find when he comes downstairs this morning to let them out? All three dogs on the couch, Raven in the middle flanked by his personal entourage on either side, all cheesin' like they own not just the couch but the whole damn joint. Anyway, everyone's safe, and that's another big load off our minds. [Cricket won't come inside (hell, the girls wouldn't, but we leashed 'em up and they came over the threshold with a single tug), nor will Blue and Kit. We make spaces outside as warm as possible for them, and once Wings's back heals, he's going to start on the big doghouse for all of them, enough fully-insulated space for everyone to share.]

At the moment, we're both wiped out from everything going on. Between yesterday and today, I packed nine separate boxes (some containing multiple items), plus got another item ready to take to the crating people tomorrow because it's oddly-sized and -shaped. The result is a raging headache, which is always the case with this kind of small detail work for me now, but I'm having so much trouble with the breathing issues and other stuff that Wings took them to the post office for me. And he's tired, too; these days, he does a hell of a lot more heavy labor than I do. But this breathing/coronary artery/fatigue/pain issue isn't going away, and there's nowhere near enough coming in to pay either those bills or everything else that will be coming down the pike. It's all wearing me out physically, mentally, and every other way, so the rest is cut-and-paste.

There are a lot of ways to help out. First, obviously, is sales; purchases of Wings's work (and/or work by the other artists whose art we carry) is always the first option, and it was the baseline for the construction in the first place. [And next week will be their last, most likely, because he don't have the cash to pay them beyond that for the labor — and right now, it's virtually all labor.] Second is subscribing to my Patreon page, which gets updated regularly with really cool imagery and a good amount of really good writing; if you now for September, you won't be billed until October 1st. Below there's also a link for "coffee," which allows folks to make small donations, and a couple of wishlists for keeping the animals in kibble and filling out needs around the house. In the middle is the link to Wings's PayPal account, and no, I won't turn away any donations, because we have to get this done and I have to have some peace of mind over it because I have none over my own survival these days). The only fundraising we'll be doing is right here; nowhere else. So here are all the links; please share them around, and if you are able to purchase, subscribe, donate, whatever, we'd be profoundly grateful:
That all I've got. I'm going to be back under the gun for the next several weeks. Thanks to everyone in advance.
