Some new leaves.

Yesterday's faint amount of rain did result in some new leaves overnight. The two aspens that flank the junipers on the east side of the house at long last have a little green on them. It's not actually late in the season for it; it's just that they've done so after a couple of others, and given how many branches do't even have buds, we always have to worry about whether they're going to survive now.

Apparently these two are determined to make it, at least for now.

So are we, but right now, that feels like a harder proposition, given my spiraling health issues.

At least a little of the immediate stress is off; I was able to cover everything that absolutely has to be covered this minute in terms of bills yesterday, and I am profoundly grateful for that. I'm going to to be scrambling to save every spare dollar for the well and the truck repairs now [and the rest of the tax bill]. That means, unfortunately, no mutual-aid funds from us for a good long while yet. We've done too much already this year, and people have literally tapped us out [and keep coming, but that well's dry now]. I'm also going to have to step back from a lot of things, because something is very wrong, I can't afford to go out of town for a bunch of expensive tests, and I feel like absolute hell all the time now. Yesterday was remarkably bad, affecting my breathing and balance and several other things, and I still can't tell whether it's just progression, which is not good but at least it's expected, eventually, or it's something that I really need to be much more worried about now.

Even so, we still have to bring in steady, regular sales now. It used to be one a week would even out over the course of the year, and typically keep us going, but after last year and this, and all the catastrophic expense, that's no longer true; I need to bring in a few a week, at least for a god while yet. I still have to be able to pay the rest of this year's taxes and start prepaying next year's. I can't go through this again. I also have to cover the well pump replacement. And Spirit only knows what's waiting for me health-wise, but I have to think in those terms, too. I'm sure that, at the very minimum, they're going to make me undergo a bunch of expensive bloodwork before this month is over.
