The Role of the Sun, the Work of the Light

Three new works.

One of three new works he completed today: two cuffs and a ring. There's a third cuff awaiting stones, but he decided that he'd prefer turquoise, and the bezels are an odd size [six stones on this one!], so I special-ordered him some of the good stuff. But it won't be here before Tuesday, probably.

August first, and it's been a day. The work is endless, and I will never get caught up, not if I live to be 110. It's also been another odd one, weather-wise, two or three small sprinkly-type storms, the second one briefly blowing in a bunch of water horizontally, then diminishing to nothing.

Not even enough to tamp down the dust. 

I need it to rain in the metaphorical sense, too. I need to bring in several more this week, because I've got to order a bunch more supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get more so as we head into fall. I've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of early this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

Between Dark and Light, a Shimmering Fire

My honey came home with a present for me today. Yup, that little buffalo. He's adorable, and he made my whole day.

He's here next to the stuffed paint horse that Wings bought me when mine left us, a fatal colic brought on by a previously-unknown cancer a few years ago. Yes, old as we are, we still do these little things for each other all the time. 

Today was ungodly hot, and the storm that moved through this afternoon was wild, but literally an example of just sound and fury: lots of wind, lots of lightning, almost no rain. We have lightning again tonight, and that's worrisome, because it is still so dangerously dry. Truly, we need real rain.

We made one sale the other night, but I need to bring in several more this week, because I've got to order a bunch of supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get more so as we head into fall. Friday Feature: The Fires of Daylight and Darkest Night

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of works created independently of each other, but clearly intended by Spirit to belong together. It's a naja-style pendant and a cuff bracelet, both set with indigenous gifts of the local earth, the settings manifest as the fires of daylight and darkest night.

One of the new pairs of earrings in the works.  Just simple onyx bezel-set cabs, the flange with simple stampwork, on wires. There 's a bit more to do before he sets them, never mind before they'll be ready to post. But they're in process.

It's been a lousy day, week, month. I'm tired, I'm fed up with having to deal with people's bullshit, and I'm sick of my condition just getting worse with no respite. If this heat doesn't break soon, it's going to kill me, and yes, that's hyperbole, but also not. It's entirely possible now, and I hate the fact that I have to live with this crap. #TBT: In Darkness and In Light, Fanning the Flames of Hope
