Days when I just want to hit the reset button on all of it.

She looks so innocent.

She's not.

::Sigh:: there are days when I just want to hit the reset button on all of it, and this is one of them.

We had to be up early, because Wings had fasting labs this morning. No big deal on that score; routine, part of the run-up to work on his knee toward the end of the year, if all goes well. I thought I would be able to get up, get him on his way, and settle in to work for a little while.

NOPE.

Look out the window; no dogs. Put on a vest, go outside; no dogs. Start calling, heading as fast as can, completely underdressed and undershod for it, to the east side, where I hear hound-woofing. KitFox leads Cricket, tearing across the northeast field toward me with that "I'm a good dog; I'm a good dog" expression on his guilty damn face, but no Chinook. I get to the fenceline, and there she is on the other side of the fence, standing over Esiban (who, I might add, is on her own turf and Chinook's trespassing), with Esiban in submissive position but also on full alert, as they both do the metronomic "come and get it; I ain't scared of you" tail wag. So I call her, and she leaves Esiban, but goes right back to her scent, and neither of us can get her to come back.

Meanwhile, Wings has his labs to worry about, so I deal with that and then go back out to try to induce her to cross back over, and here she is, trotting up nonchalantly as though nothing's happened, but she won't actually come, which means she knows she's losing privileges as a result. She's on the tie-out again now.

So, that, and having to move the railroad ties up at the gate again have my pain levels in a complete uproar. The traditional medicine (in combination with my skimpy pharma pain meds) has been doing more for me than anything else, and I've been more functional this past week than at any time in . . . well, years, maybe. But there are some things that even that can't neutralize, and this is one of them. There have been other issues this morning already, too, but I can roll with most of it. The ratcheting up of the pain, though, slows me down at a time when I need to be able to move a lot faster and haul through tasks a lot more efficiently.

For those wondering about my own health issues, see here (and since there seems to be some confusion, I should point out only I am canceling appointments, not Wings; mine tend to be far more expensive, and also more physically painful, given the nature of what I'm dealing with right now, and the cost factor puts them first on the chopping block). With regard to the work being done, some of the details are here. We still have to get the plumber in to finish up, and I regard that as a bigger priority right now in practical terms, so whatever we take in sales-wise will have to go to that. This is all complicated by the fact that, for August, a record number/amount of my Patreon patrons' cards were declined, too, so that income is lower than usual (no, I don't know who and haven't checked; I'm not going to contact anyone who probably is already scrambling to juggle their own stuff, too).

Anyway. Back to the grind; so I need help to get all this done. Folks can help in several ways, and we really need the help now:
Some thank-yous are in order: first, to whomever bought the peppermint oil! Second, to o.w. for Chinook's training treats; she's handling the training like a champ. And to all the other folks who were unidentified on the package enclosures; to the folks who hit my Ko-fi/our PayPal; and to the sister who sent a check and whose address I put in a safe place for purposes of a thank-you card, and it's apparently such a safe place that I cannot find it because my brain is what it is these days). On the wishlist, now the cold is here at night, the flies are not quite so bad, but the fly traps are still a priority. The other top priorities  (and all of these, including the fly traps, are of equal priority, especially now that the flies are finally dwindling) are the dish drainer, because we're going to need to take care of some cabinet-top stuff when the guys are here next week, or whenever we get them back out here; and the candles, to deal with the residual mildew odor in the utility room, which I hope the plumber will be here to finish next week (the utility room work, not the mildew). But the costs on all of this are . . . killing us right now.

And as I said, sales are ideal, of course; one or two of Wings's bigger pieces would cover the whole shot for this round of work. Patreon subscriptions are good, too. Either way, it's a trade for value. But I'm already feeling panicked at what we thought would be our schedule being so suddenly and thoroughly upended, and we'll take it however it comes at this point.

Please share everything, because I'm suddenly back behind the eight-ball on a whole additional front, and yeah, I'm scared about covering everything and surviving, too. Thanks.
