Friday Feature: When the Raptors Arrive and the Evergreens Thrive

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of works that capture the power and medicine of the cold seasons rapidly returning to this land now. It's a pendant in the form and shape of Eagle, and a matching pair of barrettes in coniferous patterns, a perfect combination for this time of year when the raptors arrive and the evergreens thrive.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Always, always unnecessary complications.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Wings's newest, completed late today [and not up on the site yet]. Heavy-gauge sterling silver, separate central overlay, three different natural green cabochons:  Damele turquoise at center, Blackjack on the left, Black Bridge variscite [which comes from Iran] on the right. It's a stunner, very old-school and yet also contemporary. Hopefully it'll be up by tomorrow night.

This week, I swear. It's a repetition of last week, and the week before that, and the one before that . . . . Different tasks, different tings to wipe me out, but no chance to catch my breath, no opportunity to get off my feet and let my joints try to mend a bit, no ability to get anything caught up because of everything else.

And still more complications, all of them unnecessary. Always, always unnecessary complications.

On other fronts, it's been a good few days sales-wise, which is fantastic. We've needed that kind of a boost after what this summer has been. But I've still got to bring in a lot more sales through the end of the year. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [I'll be adding some new items soon, things we could really use but that I can't justify spending money on right now, like some sheets and towels];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

#ThrowbackThursday: Autumn's New Elementals

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday featured work that dates back some twenty years, a pair of earrings that Wings created around 2006, and that sold around 2008. It's a pair wrought in an old classic style, featuring four cabochons per drop in a traditional combination of three materials, as well as three pendants each, a modified chandelier style manifest as sun and sky, earth and storm and waters, autumn's new elementals delivering their gifts.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereThis work will never be duplicated, but if the style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own.  We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins  with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Fall's here, no question.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That was this afternoon, storm gathering but sun still out, and no rain for a few hours yet. Fall's here, no question. Too bad the mercury hasn't gotten the message yet.

No errands today, but even further behind than last night. Part of it is that yesterday wiped me out so badly that I feel, and move, like I've been run over by a Mack truck. My pain meds aren't even taking the edge off these days. And with nothing working, still, the only reasonable conclusion. to draw is that it's not a flare; it's disease progression.

Of course, there's still the question of whether it's being aggravated by something else besides. Because this particular mix of autoimmune diseases, besides jeopardizing my organs as well as my joints and connective tissue, also puts me at heightened risk for more acute things, the kind of things that no one wants. Of course, without a doctor, or a medical practice to back up the void, testing is going to be out of the question. And there's no place here that does it, anyway, and I couldn't make a trip down to Santa Fe in these circumstances anyway.

This is how people lose medical care. It's also how people with chronic illness die, early and unnecessarily. And I can't let myself dwell on that, because there isn't a damn thing I can do about any of it.

On other fronts, it's been a good few days sales-wise, which is fantastic. We've needed that kind of a boost after what this summer has been. The Medicine of Early Autumn Nights

Photo copyright  Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a masterwork for the power of the elemental spirits, and for their gift of a love ancient and eternal to this world, and to us. It's a necklace, and a heart, and so much more than either, an expression of a powerful and timeless love, and now, of the medicine of early autumn nights.

Red Willow Spirit: Fall's New Medicine

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for spectacularly unseasonal weather for early fall. It's two images from nine years ago nearly to the day, linked by a single current work of wearable art, capturing other versions of the precipitation that, this week, seems to be fall's new medicine.

Monsoonal weather.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

We came through that on the way home, and for a few minutes, it was the kind of rain where the wipers can't keep up with it. Then it boomeranged and came back this way in early evening.

This is monsoonal weather, which, you know, we should've had from late June until early September. By now? The weather should be clearing, turning cooler and the prepping for the color change in the foliage. Better late than never, and never's what it's been most of the last nine summers, so we'll take it.

We're just hoping it's a sign of a long, cold, snowy winter.

Out of order tonight; I've been dealing with shipping and grocery shopping and a bunch of other tasks that couldn't wait any longer, and of course it's all on the day of my heaviest writing workload, but none of it could wait. So the easy stuff is getting done first, and the NDN Silver post afterward.

And it's been a good few days sales-wise, which is fantastic. We've needed that kind of a boost after what this summer has been. But I've still got to bring in a lot more sales through the end of the year.
