Another vendor; new expenses. Snow on the way. Shares needed.

It was a beautiful day today, unseasonably warm and clear and with an unbelievably good feel to the air. Not that you can tell from the photo, but Toney finally had a chance, and sufficiently good weather, to treat the vigas on the back side of the house with a mix of linseed oil and turpentine to preserve and protect the wood.

The guys also cut these:

If you've been following these posts, you've seen the photos of the front of the house with the flashing installed over the top of the vigas. This is the flashing for those on the back. It'll help protect them from water damage.

Tomorrow, another vendor, a guy Toney recommends highly, will be coming out to give us an estimate on what's known as "taping and bedding" — it's the first coat applied to the interior drywall to even everything out and simultaneously prep it for the traditional form of plasterwork. I have no idea what this is gonna set us back, so I'm just expecting it to be a bundle. We can't afford to delay the bathroom fixtures much longer, though; we were planning to go down to Lowes sometime in the next few days, but tomorrow's out, and the snow is supposed to begin tomorrow night and run well into the weekend. Allegedly with accumulation this time.

So fixtures will be bumped to next week, at a minimum. Between now and January 2nd, we frankly need to raise enough to take care of the bathroom fixtures, at least a couple grand to the plumbers for the next round of work, and the work by the new guy. So, of course, we need shares:
  • Shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, especially the widget code, which has once again been moved back to the purple box at the lower right-hand side of the page, that produces the image shown above.
  • Shares of Wings's site; sales are way, way down this holiday season, and this is the time of year that usually gets us (mostly) through the long harsh winters. This year, it's also funding construction. Testimonials help.
  • If you're considering commissioning holiday gifts by Wings, now's the time to contact me so I can get your order into his workbench queue. We're about out of time for this one, at least those that involve shipping across the country.
  • One last thing: I mentioned above that the plumbers are coming, and bathroom-fixture purchases are in the offing. To that end, I've added Lowes gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. No, there's no Lowes here in Taos, but there's one an hour-plus away in EspaƱola. Less obnoxious (and less expensive, and less far away) than Home Depot, and an actual selection and discount pricing that are not available here in town. It's by far the most cost-efficient way for us to buy the bathroom fixtures, which we're going to have to do very soon so that they can complete the plumbing rough-in and our crew can get to those rooms.
Thanks to everyone for your help thus far, with special thanks to a few folks over the last few days, and this evening, who have suddenly made progress possible once again. We are going to need to push through this, hard, fast, and and consistently. Winter is here: Snow, ice, bitter cold, and a septic system that freezes nightly because it was misinstalled all those years ago. The snow arrives Friday, according to current projections, and winter will eventually settle in one way or another. Please give us a hand with consistent daily shares to a wide audience.

Also, for the record, I'm supporting exactly three efforts right now: Oursmy s-i-l'sLin's. Dassit. Not endorsing anything else, even if I have in the past. This is not a commentary on the worthiness of other efforts posted elsewhere, merely on what I have in the past supported here.
