Here they are: four new works by Wings.

I know it's late, but I promised at least one new pair of silverwork earrings and one each in the various gemstone bead series for today. Here they are:  four new works by Wings. [Also, I will likely have three new pairs of silverwork earrings to bring you tomorrow, plus at least one new group of three items from the gemstone bead series, but that's . . . for tomorrow.]

First up is the first in a new informal series, which is actually not new at all, but a return to a style he used to create some 15, 16 years ago and more. It's the earrings shown above, called A Light For the Indigo Hours: sterling silver; lapis lazuli of an absolutely incredible meld of cobalt and indigo blues; rainbow moonstone; and sterling silver ingot beads. The second, third, and fourth works are all part of Wings's three gemstone bead collections, each item sold separately, but all three intended explicitly to coordinate with each other. These are part of a new series that will eventually include 48 individual pieces. It's called The Elementals, divided into the four seasons and each addressing a different, decidedly local and Indigenous/indigenous aspect of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. First up, appropriately enough, is The Autumn Elementals, and this trio of works represents Earth (Air is coming tomorrow).

First up is the necklace, called Adobe Rose. It's the color of the clay on our own walls, inside and out (no, they have other commercial names, but that's essentially what they are, the original natural red-clay adobe color). There are bits of iron pyrite and sterling silver to represent the mica, tiny faceted rubies like, well, roses, and even a pair of turquoise chips that frame the center like traditionally-painted windows — and all the beads are the shades of fall. Next up are the earrings, and they're both a near-perfect match and capable of standing entirely on their own. These are called Micaceous, a reference to the shimmer of the mica in the natural red clay here. The fall shades of the clay are represented by the graduated series of rounds, paired sunstone and fire agate and Dolomite topped by single giantRed Creek jasper rounds, but the lower anchors are diamond-cut sterling silver and the upper anchors are the mica-like shimmer of natural iron pyrite nuggets. Finally, but by no means either last or least, is the coil bracelet, which pulls the other two together in a spiraling autumnal whirl. This one is called Red Clay and Gold Dust, a reference both to the earthy mix here and to the gleam of the mica in the light, which gave rise to the mythos of the fabled cities of gold. It's a graduated mix of the same rounds, fire agate and sunstone and Dolomite and Red Creek jasper, with golden fossilized coral added, and the spacer beads are a mix of sterling silver and very, very old hand-made copper barrel beads.
