Destructive.

One of the smaller walls of dirt that went blasting past here yesterday. Since then, it's been multiple twisters, too big to be called mere dust devils, and far more destructive. Now, we're reduced to hoping we don't get another one like the one that took out half the stable a few years back. We can't afford the damage, or the repairs.

And there's no precipitation in the forecast for the next fifteen days, but plenty of vicious gale-force winds. Plenty of smoke, too, since apparently all five wildfires are still growing, utterly uncontained.

This whole week has been destructive in so many ways. It's a week with three separate markers of grief in it. The winds have jacked my already-unbearable pain levels into the stratosphere. And even though the federal government is willing to kill us rather than take the most minimal steps to control this pandemic, all on stolen land, we've still been forced to pay them an unholy amount of money this week, cash. And that's only the first payment.

Add to that the fact that my Patreon is down by almost $100 this month, probably because folks are having to use that money to pay their own taxes, and it's a lot tighter than I expected it to be, enough so that I'm still contemplating canceling my appointment at the end of the month to start ketamine therapy for pain (it's hellishly expensive, $500 per treatment, and we have to pay cash, up front and in full). My pain levels are completely out of control right now, and they're crippling me in very literal terms, but I'm not sure we can afford this after all. After the tax nonsense is done, then we can worry about how we're going to save the land (and ourselves). Links are here:

We're still hoping to put aside enough for a new well when the ground thaws enough to drill in the spring, too, Nah, we've given up on the well. No one's available to drill before the latter half of summer, and the tax burden means we would never be able to afford it anyway. But it's perhaps even more of a good time to make a purchase, because Uncle Sam is a vindictive colonizer, and my current stress levels about paying it all are off the charts. And there's lots of fabulous work, so please share all of the links.
