Unexpectedly, two new works by Wings.

Given the snow today and everything else going on here, I thought tomorrow would be the absolute earliest for these. I was wrong: I have, unexpectedly, two new works by Wings.

Both are entries in his ongoing informal series of smaller barrettes as pairs. [To be clear, the French clip asemblies are full-size, and they will hold your hair in a full ponytail as easily as they take care of stray locks.] First up is the one above, made with large round cabochons of bright crimson sponge coral. These are A Flowering Fire, hand-milled in his favorite Art Nouveau meets Flower Power motif, and set with those fabulously textured cabs. You can read their full description here.

As gorgeous as they are, they are not my personal favorite of today's two pairs; that distinction belongs to these:

This pair is called The Wingtips of Twilight, and they are appropriately mysterious and mystical all at once. These are hand-miled, too, in a graceful feathery motif that resembles bird wings, and set with absolutely stunning Labradorite cabochons, highly domed and with an incredible amount of blue flash.
