The whys and the whats.

You can stand outside in the middle of our land and turn in a circle, 360 degrees, and find not a single cloud in the sky. Not one tiny wisp.

Plenty of wind, though. The entire state is under a red-flag warning for today and several days to come, which should mean an automatic burn ban, but here's the thing: Colonial negligence is endless, and just as it started the fires that became last year's record megafire, it only issued a "strongly recommended against" warning for burning anything today.

So, of course, in Torrance County, on the flats east of Albuquerque where the wind blows year-round but at this season reaches all-out, full destructive force? There's a wildfire, right this minute, and they've begun evacuating people from their homes. These jackasses (the state officials) want to do a bunch of big prescribed burns just west of here in two weeks, and they're citing anti-science to justify it, and the drought is not gone, the climate patterns are not gone, and the winds will most assuredly not be gone in two weeks (no, they'll be hitting their peak and getting worse). And if they do this and it takes off, it's right on the wind path to us.

Meanwhile, avalanche season, and the ski resort is closed for several days not because the mountain's coming down around their ears, but because there's a water leak and there's no clean, useable water (because they stole it all, but whatever). That's another thing that should not exist in this place.

We're in for a rough year, and I'm not going to mince words about the whys and the whats. They want us silent and ignored, and we're not going to be quiet about the way they're killing the earth, the land and waters and air and sky.

In the meantime, we still have to pay obeisance to this stupid colonizer government in the form of taxes, and I need to get back to it. I said yesterday that I had two new works by Wings to post, but thanks to that nonsense, I've had no time to deal with them. I'll get to that sometime this evening, so keep a watch in this space for them; they're already on the site, but I haven't had time to promote them.
