Nothing goes to waste.

Resting a moment, and showing off his work.

He was between stages on two sets of commissions currently in the works [there are always points where something needs to soak, or sit, or whatever, and he uses those periods to clear his head and get other stuff done]. And so he did something he's been talking about the last couple of weeks: built a new planter for things that get planted in the fall. He put that whole thing together late this afternoon, and he was just flipping it over to move it into place. All that wood? The old planks that the guys have been replacing. Yeah, parts of it are rotted, especially where they were joined, but there's a ton of perfectly good, solid wood on those 2X6s, and he pulled out some of the better ones and cut them to size and put it all together in the space of a couple of hours.

Nothing goes to waste.

Speaking of which, he harvested the pinto beans yesterday. We'll pick up the pumpkins and shuck the corn over the next few days, too. A hard freeze finally hit the peaks overnight, although still nothing down here; the rain held off here until 6:30 this morning, at which point we had both ball and bolt lightning in our east field outside right outside the window. But the point is that the rain came so late that it didn't freeze, yet again . . . but if what the radar map is showing now actually arrives, that will change tonight.

In the meantime, I'm behind, as always; there are never enough hours in the day, and it just gets worse every year. I'll be working late again tonight, as freaking always. I'm so tired.

I also need to bring in a lot more sales than what we've done on average this whole god-awful year. There's a lot of gorgeous new work up, but I've got to sell it for it to make any difference. I posted four new ones the other night, around midnight: those two pairs of earrings, both Goth-y and perfect for Spooky Season, here [this pair now sold!] and here; and two new necklaces, very different but also seasonally apt, here and here. And there's a lot more to come, once these two sets of commissions are done and with their people. But in the meantime, we [which means I] have got to change this trajectory, and fast. To that end, links are here:

And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need this to be a better month than what we've had so far this year.
