So much for the severe weather and freeze warnings. I mean, I think it did actually get down below freezing in the early hours of this morning, if only briefly. But it wasn't nearly enough, and everything wasn't nearly wet enough, for it to do any damage. We got a little rain, but mostly clouds, wind, thunder, and lightning, with one brief loud period of hail. And today, we still have all the color [and nearly all the wildflowers].

There's supposed to be more weather this week, though, and into next week, and that might turn into something else entirely. Either way, we're fine with it. Today's skies had not a single cloud anywhere, for 360 degrees, just bright blue and brilliant light. And, of course, all that equally brilliant color.

Unfortunately, we haven't had any chance to enjoy it. That's what it's like here from October first until the end of the year, because this is [or at least it should be] the season when we do most of our business. That hasn't been the case in recent years, except, I think, for 2020; I think everyone was tired of COVID and was just ready to spend. But conditions are a lot worse now, economically, for most people, and that hits us before it hits the kinds of businesses that sell needs rather than wants.

And for the second year in a row, it's been a hellishly expensive year for reasons we could neither predict nor prevent, and certainly couldn't ignore. So right now, we need to make up for a lot of that over these three months, in part because we have a very big tax prepayment due before the end of the year. If we could just continue to make regular weekly sales, we'd be fine . . . but we need to make those sales now, and so far, that's not happening. There's a lot of gorgeous new work up, but I've got to sell it for it to make any difference. This kind of stress is also not helping my health, and today's been pretty miserable on that front [the steroid injection is actually helping my joints across the board, but the massive headache is now on its fifth day and counting]. I need to find a way to change all of that now, and fast. And to that end, links are here:
