Our new rescue dog, 'Nestle', has similar colours, although in more solid blocks. Picked him up Saturday, and could tell the shelter was either lying or delusional - they were representing him as a 3 yr old, and he was clearly far older. Our vet sets probably 8ish, which is what Amy and I had already guessed. He also needs upwards of $600 of dental work immediately, and is going to lose a number of teeth that are in horrid shape. Shelter didn't mention that either, of course. I'm just glad he's here, and no longer with them, as they'd supposedly had him almost a year, and hadn't done anything about his teeth, and he was horribly obese, weighing in at 51#, which is enormous for a beagle. So our early goals are slim him down and get his teeth fixed as much as they can be. I suspect he'll be on a soft food diet from here on out, I can't even imagine how he got so heavy on dry kibble with such bad teeth.
