I am so very, very tired of chasing money. Donations, sales, it doesn't matter; I am terrible at this sort of thing, and I absolutely hate it.
And I have no choice.
It's not just that, if I can't raise the scratch in the next two days, work on the house will be delayed. Actually, that's the least of it; I mean, the walls will go up fast once they really get under way. The thing that's killing me right now is the prospect of laying off the crew for a week. This is supporting them and their families for the summer. We need to be able to keep paying them, but I don't have any way to do that absent continuing to chase donations to the project by way of our YouCaring page, or to chase sales (on here, by way of Wings's Web site).
And both are down.
So all I can do is ask people to keep sharing the links: first, to our crowdfunding link to build a house again after six years without a real one; and second, to Wings's site to push sales. I'm even doing a separate one-day flash sale on his work for every day this month, even though I hate discounting his work in any way (but he told me to go ahead and do it, so here we are). I would put some of my own photos up for sale if I thought it would bring in anything, but my writing doesn't, so I'm guessing that there's no percentage in taking the time off from promoting his work to deal with the set-up for it.
But please, keep sharing the links. Here's our YouCaring page; please use the widgets, including the code from the box in the lower right-hand corner that will give you the image above. And please share the link to his site, preferably with a testimonial, if you can.
Thank you to everyone who has helped get us this far. We've got a long, long way to go, and I have a lot of work to do over the next few days to keep our crew on the job. That means very little sleep (and probably the migraine to go with the stress), but we now feel responsible to the folks doing the labor, and I'm not putting them on hiatus without a fight.
