It's sleeting. Shares needed to help us beat the REAL snow.

That blue sky behind the house? That's deceptive. What you can't see from this vantage point is the dark blue band all along the horizon from south to west to north (and later, also east). We have rain now, a little sleet mixed in. It's not terribly cold yet, but everything will freeze overnight, and at a minimum, the peaks will be at least dusted with snow by morning.

The crew didn't make any progress to speak of on the construction itself, because the spent the morning tarping the window and door openings. Today was only a half-day for them anyway; they wanted to make up some hours from being off because of All Souls', but they also had stuff they wanted to get done before the weekend, so they were out of here by noon.

They'll finish the papering and wiring on Monday; in the meantime, Buffy's renting the rolling scaffolds for the plastering on Sunday. I imagine the materials for the actual plaster will show up sometime Monday, although they won't begin that work before Tuesday, in all likelihood. Over the weekend, we're hoping to have the glass order finalized. No, no rest for us this weekend, either, despite the fact that the storm is supposed to continue through tomorrow.

We have now met the match on offer last night. I'm told there is a smaller one in the offing, but I'm waiting for details; I'll post it here when I have them, probably sometime this weekend. In the meantime, we continue to need shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, especially the widget code from lower right that gives you this:

We also need continued shares of Wings's site. If you want to commission holiday gifts, please get hold of me now, so that we can get your order into the queue on his workbench in a timely fashion.

Profound thanks to everyone who has continued to give us a hand, carving out time and effort on our behalf even in these final days of one of the worst election cycles I can recall in my life (possibly the worst). We have both now cast our votes (although I was forced to use a provisional ballot), and that's one more task off the week's list. I have a few dozen more to try to check off over the weekend (including posting Wings's newest work tomorrow), as we try to push through these many final stages rolled into one in an effort to close the house in before real snow gets here. Please bear with us, and thanks.
