Plaster prep, a possible glass solution in the works, and a $500 match on offer. Shares needed.

This is what the house looks like at the moment. It's slow going, this process of papering and wiring and nailing on the lath. But it's a necessary one.

You can see more of the photos from this week at the GOS, where my beloved belinda has kindly posted a diary for us. There's a $500 match on offer from an anonymous dear soul, so every donation up to a collective total of $500 gets doubled. For those of you on the site, please go T&R and share it.

That small corner is all that remains visible of the adobe brick that I love so dearly. It'll be covered tomorrow, too. With luck, they'll get the rest of the upper level covered, as well, so that on Monday they begin plastering. They'll also be tarping the windows and doors, since we're supposed to be getting rather heavy rains tomorrow and Saturday. And speaking of windows and doors, we may have come up with a solution on the glass that will cut our costs substantially, but it will entail a trip down to Lowes to verify it. We should know by sometime next week whether it's doable.

In the meantime, they'll be ordering the materials for the plaster itself the first of the week. More money out the door, in addition to the window order itself if we've managed to settle on the best way forward by then. And, of course, there's always labor. And all too soon, we'll have to have the heavy equipment back out here to excavate for the septic system.

So, of course, we need continued shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided. Especially helpful is the widget code from the purple box at lower right, which produces this:

Also helpful are shares of Wings's site, which is what pays the bills in addition to helping fund the construction. If you're contemplating commissioning one or more holiday gifts, now is the time to contact me, so that he has sufficient time to create each piece and to ensure delivery in time for the holidays.

Many thanks to everyone for helping us in so many ways. This final stage covers a lot of territory, what would ordinarily be divided into a number of separate stages, but we're racing the clock to get it closed in before winter (and, we hope, to be in it ourselves before winter really settles in for the long count). We're pushing virtually nonstop on a lot of fronts right now, because what lies ahead is a long and difficult road to completion. Please bear with us as we do our best to get everything done.
