Windows (mostly) in. Waiting on rewiring. Shares needed.

We got very, very lucky today. We had six guys here — three crew; three hires for the day — and the weather held off. The wind is screaming now, and the rain (and sleet and slushy snow) is drilling down hard, and the whole world will be ice in the morning, but for today, we were blessed.

This is what it looked like putting those monster multi-pane windows in upstairs. Tony's inside; the other five outside to haul them up. I have photos that could be put together like a flip cartoon showing them getting it from the ground to set in the opening. That was the third heavy lift of the day; they began with this one's counterpart on the south side, then the French doors, then this; after that, they got the big ones installed downstairs. The small one that was sized incorrectly can be returned for a refund, so they're going to expand the opening enough to accommodate it. In the meantime, here's what the house looks like now from the front:

The front door is on order; it'll likely be done in three to four weeks (he's got other orders in front of ours). Another couple of weeks for the fixture delivery. This week for the wiring redo (we hope); supposedly it will done by Saturday, although I'll believe it when it happens. Nothing about wiring makes me feel confident right now. If so, though, the drywall will be replaced, properly, this time, and the taping and bedding and plasterwork can commence upstairs as soon as sometime next week.

There's no end to it.

Today's success means that I feel a tiny bit less swamped by the fear I've felt since Saturday morning's events. A tiny bit. It's going to take me a while, especially where all things electrical are concerned.

We're mostly good for the moment, despite the hugely expensive setback on the wiring. It's a gigantic hit right now, though, and we'll need to make it up at some point, which means that we still need shares:

Still, before you share our links, please go share Laura's. Lin's spirit is where the water meets the light, but Laura will still need our help for a while. Please T/R/share/donate to her fund if you can. Especially that last. It's needed.

Thanks, everyone.
