I feel like Grandmother gave us a glimpse of herself nearly full yesterday evening, because she knew we're unlikely to see her tonight. It won't be clouds in the way; it'll be the constant wall of dirt and pall of smoke. The winds today are absolutely hellish, and so are the heat and aridity.
We got one break yesterday with the ATV: Apparently it was only the battery, so it's functioning again. And yes, it's a necessity here; twenty-five acres here alone, plus backcountry travel when he needs to deal with that sort of thing, and, of course, he uses it to haul heavy loads and plow the snow in the winter.
Snow. Only a vague memory now. Still no rain, wildfire still raging, everything's terrible.
And this society doesn't care about any of that. We've got a high four figures in expenses that I have to meet, and without sales, we will not be able to. I've realized that I can't cancel my pain therapy without risking undoing what I've already done. I've got to pay nearly a thousand on all of that, plus Wings's upcoming appointment (which will kick it over that line). Hay and the farrier and horse vet. Taxes, fucking taxes, even though it seems that nobody can do anything to help even as they keep taking taking taking. And at some point, the car needs to be hauled to the shop and the battery apparently replaced again, and that's going to have to wait until fall, probably. I am at my wits' end, I am frustrated, I am angry. And we get no help from a government that would rather we die of COVID. With my monthly income going down by several hundred dollars next month, we're in trouble.

We're still hoping to put aside enough for a new well when the ground thaws enough to drill in the spring, too, Nah, we've given up on the well. No one's available to drill before the latter half of summer, and the tax burden means we would never be able to afford it anyway. But it's perhaps even more of a good time to make a purchase, because Uncle Sam is a vindictive colonizer, and my current stress levels about paying it all are off the charts. And there's lots of fabulous work, so please share all of the links.
