Framework under way; roof a week from Monday; shares needed.

Thanks to the weather (and other commitments tomorrow), the guys only worked three days this week. This was what the upper level looked like at the end of the day Tuesday. [Notice how clean their work is?]

By the end of the day Wednesday, they had the insulation in and waferboard installed all across the upper-level subfloor. Wings has those photos; if we can get them off his phone and onto my laptop, I'll a shot here.

By midday today, they had this:

The whole front wall is up. They'll finish the framing of the upper level next week, and do some interior work (wiring, etc.). But that will all be done by the end of next week . . . and the following Monday (as in the 17th!), they'll be ready to start the roof.

The materials quote for the roof is just shy of $5,300.

Now, I'm given to understand that that is actually not only not bad, but a very good price. But it's a huge amount to come up with in one chunk. The rest of the exterior work can't proceed until the roof is on — and we have just over a week to raise it. There's another wrinkle, too: That's no longer a hard and fast price, because after next Monday, we may no longer be buying locally. We've tried to do that virtually exclusively, but two fiascos in a row this morning, on top of a couple in the past, with one of the owners hanging up on Wings when he called to inform him (politely) of today's complete mess on their part? No. If it's not made right, we'll go with Ace and Lowes down in EspaƱola.

The upshot is that we're now rather under the gun in terms of the next immediate stage. Which, of course, means that we need daily shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, and especially via the widget code from the box at the lower right-hand corner of the page, which gives you this image:

We also need equally consistent shares of Wings's site, the sales from which fund daily expenses and fund construction. And if you're planning on commissioning one or more gifts for the holidays, now's the time to do it, so that Wings will have time to give your project his full attention; just get hold of me via the site's Contact form. [I'll also be posting two brand new and utterly fabulous works by Wings over the weekend.]

Many thanks to everyone who has helped get us to this point. We have a long, long way to go, and time is fast growing short, so we need to keep at it through this final multi-stage push. I am running in twelve directions at once all day every day right now, but I'll do my best to catch up on everything I have outstanding just as soon as I can.
