Talk about a whirlwind.

Well. Talk about a whirlwind.

Y'all did it!  In just a little more than 24 hours, you funded everything needed for Internet access for our friend. Wings is calling him now to let him know so he can schedule the appointment, because they're always backlogged. It should clear our account in a couple of business days — maybe as early as tomorrow, maybe not 'til Monday, but either way, it'll all get turned over to him in cash as soon as it does.

Speaking of whirlwinds, I guess that sucker up there was a sign, hmm? that was yesterday afternoon when I went out to feed the dogs for the evening. It looks like it's literally in. our south field, but it's not; it's way the hell to the south by a good several miles, which gives you a better read on just how tall and powerful it actually is. At first, I wasn't sure whether I was seeing a dust devil or a smoke plume, but by the time I retrieved my camera, it had already dissipated quite a lot. That's nowhere near what it was a couple of minutes prior.

So yesterday was suffocatingly hot, chaotically busy, and ridiculously expensive. Thanks to the earth-moving costs (stuff that's been in the works for a while but we could only now make schedules align, for the purposes of preventing more erosion and keeping the floppy-eared monsters from tunneling under the fence) and the annual chimney-cleaning costs, we're $800 [cash] lighter in the wallet than we were yesterday morning. The electrician never showed, so no idea yet what that's gonna set us back, but we need a functional generator given the constant outages here anymore. So no pain therapy appointment for me next week, and it's back to flogging sales as constantly as possible. Wings has several other new pieces in the works, although given our workload this week even now, I don't know when they'll be finished and ready to post. I need more time, more hours in the day, fewer interruptions, and I'm not going to get any of them I know, but anyway, all the links are here:

We're still hoping to put aside enough for a new well when the ground thaws enough to drill in the spring, too, Nah, we've given up on the well. No one's available to drill before the latter half of summer, and the tax burden means we would never be able to afford it anyway. But it's perhaps even more of a good time to make a purchase, because Uncle Sam is a vindictive colonizer, and my current stress levels about paying it all are off the charts. And there's lots of fabulous work, so please share all of the links.
