Cricket, soaking up the last of yesterday's sun.

There's a reason I posted a photo of our sweet scared feral boy, the one who survived so much abuse and still can't trust any human enough to allow us to pet him, but who loves the puppies with everything he has and protects us and this place fiercely.

There's another local dog in need, and you can help.

I've talked about how we get bears here periodically. Cricket knows enough to let them be. But another local dog , trying to protect his pack? Wasn't so lucky. I learned this morning that a pittie named Aries, whose humans are a local family who's fallen on hard times, was attacked by a bear. He's badly injured; he's currently at the vet, the same vet who has always cared for our own dogs, and he's already hard at the work of saving a good boy. But the family will never be able to afford the bill.

So a local activist put it out into the community this morning, letting folks know that we could call the vet and donate directly to save this good dog's life (and hopefully his leg). We gave a little. You can, too.  Just call Taos Veterinary Clinic at 575.758.7310, tell them you want to donate to the bill for "Aries the pittie," and that Aji Wings sent you. They can take it right over the phone.

Meanwhile, I have to get back to work here. I've got to get us out of this month and this year in one piece, and I can't do that unless our sales rate increases dramatically and immediately. Nothing else matters (to the outside world where these things have to be paid, and so I have to behave accordingly).
