Stormy weather; date/cost set for exterior final coat. Shares needed.

That's the central corner of the bancos, the stepped effect I asked them to add in the center. It can be used to display art, or maybe put our little TV on the top, whatever. No, no one was working here today, for the first time all week (the photo's from yesterday), but the day was a zoo all the same. Yesterday, they said an 80% chance of rain, and we got two dozen drops. Today, it was no more than 20%, and we had thunder, lightning, wind, rain, hail, leaks in this damn RV, and tornado weather (but no funnel, at least not in sight). At least now we could take the dogs and go hide in the downstairs shower base, if necessary.

But today was a mess on a bunch of fronts, mostly having nothing to do with the house, but that's still the biggest thing hanging over our heads right now. Philip came by to pick up the boombox his crew left behind, and verify the start date for the color coat, which is set for July 7th. That means another $4,500 (it was $4K, but the poor guy didn't make anything off the last stage after he took care of his crew, so we're going to buy the materials between now and then; he needs to make a profit, too).

And we need to get the flooring ordered soon. We're also going to have to order the tile for the whole downstairs, since it needs to go in before cabinetry and appliances (it will all be the same, save for the tiny space of the downstairs bath). The one I want for downstairs comes from Home Depot, and is a fraction of the cost of what they have at Lowe's. I mean, a third the price of their lower-grade stuff in a comparable style; a tenth or less of their decent-quality stuff. And then there's the electricity and the plumbing (not including the evaporative system for the septic) and the exterior plaster. Oh, and there's the lumber for the balcony, which needs to go up before July 7th. Yes, as I said last night, I have to have all this stuff rattling around in my head all day every day and most of the night, and every second is spent, even unconsciously, trying to juggle it all and figure out how to make it work. So we need consistent link shares for all the rest of it:
  • First, to donate, the PayPal link is here
  • Second, for sales (which we really need to make, and I'll be highlighting some of his high-end stuff on the site this week), the link to Wings's site (preferably with a testimonial, if you have some of his work), because sales are gonna keep this thing rolling.
  • And finally, the link to our wishlist (which badly needs updating), with an emphasis on the Lowe's gift cards, because those are what will help us pay for all the stuff that will make this place liveable, like a water heater and flooring and so forth. A note here: I really do dislike Home Depot, but they have a terrific tile that would work for pretty much the entire downstairs (except the bathroom) that's less than a third of the price of a lot of what's comparable from Lowe's. It's the kind of thing that we can't rationalize spending so much more on, given the differential, and so I'll be adding Home Depot gift cards to the wishlist, too, much as it pains me. [Okay, so I just checked; you can only buy Home Depot gift cards through their own company site, so they're not going to be on the Amazon wishlist. Think of it as a virtual virtual wishlist.]
As always lately, I have a lot more work this evening, and I have to get on it. Many thanks and much love to everyone.
