The sky here today is beautiful. So was the rain we got in the early, still-dark hours of this morning, and the forecast is for more to come.

Yesterday, fire crews reportedly got the new wildfire wrestled to a containment level of 32%. Last night's rains undoubtedly helped, although there was also lightning early on, and that's always a risk when the land is this dry. But it's something.

Wings also had a flash of genius this morning about the door, and he's taken the broken hinges (and the remaining good one) to a guy he knows he does cast-iron and solid-steel welding/forging/fabrication, to see whether he can either fix these or copy them sufficiently to rehang the door on functional hinges. It will cost, but it's got to be cheaper than ripping out and redoing the whole frame.

But the costs of everything keep skyrocketing, and I'm not bringing in enough even to begin to meet them, never mind anything extra like this. I have to bring in sales, and it just gets more urgent by the day, and I can't even get time to work on it. But we still have to keep pushing, because this is a society that doesn't allow for tragedy, or catastrophe, or destruction and death, even when it causes them all. There are bills to pay, expenses to cover, supplies to be stocked for winter, people to help (we've had to do that more than once this past week), and an endless parade of other demands. All in our worst sales year in a long, long time.

But I've got to bring them in, and with a lot more consistency than over these past eight months. I posted Wings's two newest works last week, here. I already posted his newest cuff here the other day, and it's amazing; it's called Stars Float Down Like Butterflies, and as soon as you see it, you'll see why. Last week, I posted his two new pairs of earrings, here. There's plenty of other new work in the site, too.
