Pretty cool effect, huh, that light on those trees in the distance? It also shows how fast they're going gold now.
Or not.
If you were to zoom in on where the sunlight hits, you'd see that one big reason it picks up the light color so well . . . is that it's hitting bare aspen branches.
A lot of those trees are dead.
This is the kind of thing I mean when I talk about people being prepared for what's coming, and how next year is not going to look anything like this year, in all kinds of contexts.
But too many people seem to think that absolves them of giving a shit, when in fact it's just the opposite. Our responsibilities now are greater than ever. Which is why I'm killing myself lately to get certain things done.
I didn't fall asleep until sometime between five and six this morning. At six, the dogs came up, demanding to be let out. So I'm barely functional too begin with, and today required a bunch of errands of us, so everything's late, and my pain levels are now off the charts.
Tomorrow, the materials are being delivered for the repairs, and Nano's coming over to get a head start on the sealing. We can cover the materials this week, at least, and probably the labor. The following week, though? and the ensuing weeks, and the next three stages of it? Yeah, that's why I've got to bring in a bunch of sales now. If we're gonna have an early winter [still doubtful, because none of the ordinary signs, which these would normally be, hold as patterns], this job has to get completely done first. We've has a first snow as early as September 30th here, and that was just seven years ago, when all this climate collapse nonsense was already under way.
And it's been a ridiculously expensive year already [on top of last year]. If we can just continue to make regular weekly sales, we'll be fine . . . but we need to make those sales now. There's a lot of gorgeous new work up [and there will be more to come, as it fits it in around the commissions currently under way, six at the moment], and that includes several pairs of brand new earrings that are at a more modest price point than most of this work, but I've got to sell them for it to make any difference. And to that end, links are here:
