It has been a day.
Again.
First, they were so to deliver the materials at 8:30 this morning; the driver didn't show up until five hours later. It wasn't his fault; out of 3 or 4 drivers, he was the only one to show up to work today, so he had everybody's routes. Wings's helper didn't show up, either. Nano did, and couldn't do anything because the materials weren't here. They're here now, but now it's supposed to rain much of the rest of the week, so they may not be able to do anything.
But it was an expensive day just on that alone.
Then there was the other thing.
That's Wings hand-cranking silver through the rolling mill in the photo. Which is fine as far it goes. Problem is, for one order, he needs to be able to roll it larger than what he can do with his existing one. We've tried ordering extension rollers that can be switched out. Lots of places allegedly have them, but . . . nope, they actually don't. Part of that might be the tariff nonsense; part of it is just caveat emptor nonsense. But after losing way too much time trying to find something that apparently does not exist [not currently, not buy-ably, and not that fits his mill]? Today I had to bite the bullet and buy a new mill fitted with the proper size rollers. Fortunately, after a lot of digging, I was able to find a small, specially designed one that was only $816, rather than $1,600-3,600. But that's still $816 I wasn't planning on having to spend, so on top of everything else, I have to bring in enough to make up for that now.
And it's been a ridiculously expensive year already [on top of last year]. If we can just continue to make regular weekly sales, we'll be fine . . . but we need to make those sales now. There's a lot of gorgeous new work up [and there will be more to come, as it fits it in around the commissions currently under way, a few of the most recent dozen-plus done, 4 more under way at the moment], and that includes several pairs of brand new earrings that are at a more modest price point than most of this work, but I've got to sell them for it to make any difference. And to that end, links are here:
