Cricket. More snow, and a need to investigate other options.

Cricket yesterday, in a rare moment of joy. Coyote entered the spirit world yesterday, and he spent most of the night calling for her. His grief is as terrible as our own.

It's been snowing steadily since the middle of the night, so I'm not sure whether we'll be able to get the truck to the shop today or not. Hell, I'm not even sure it matters. Talking to the mechanic, it's pretty clear that, at a minimum, the head is cracked. Given the location of it on this thing, that entails removal of the engine just to diagnose it all, and when I say "engine," I don't mean the kind you find in vehicles now. It's going to be several grand for that alone, which means we now need to reevaluate. There comes a point when it's far more cost-effective to look into a new (used) truck than to sink well into four figures into this one only potentially to find that it's not worth fixing at all, so we're going to have to see what the mechanic thinks and what our options might be. In the meantime, we're getting the axel replaced in the car on Monday, and we can swing that; we're fine for now, except for the haulage issues until we get this all figured out.

Next week is more medical stuff in addition to the car, and there will be much more after that, although we don't know the form and shape it will take yet. Hopefully, something fixable, and relatively easily so. Meanwhile, all this stuff is piling up fast, so here are the links for sharing (or using, if anyone's so inclined):
