The best medicine.

We've had almost a whole day of rain. This is our first real lull, but given the forecast, the radar map, and the sky, I suspect we'll have rain again before sunset. It's supposed to be heavier this evening, too.

If they're getting this on the other side of the ridgeline, they'll also be getting flooding in the burn scars. Here, though, our scars are all from drought, at least the current ones, and this is the best medicine the land could possibly get. These are not our proper monsoonal patterns, but we're not going to turn them away on that basis — and frankly? Given the injury to the land in recent years, this is better for us than the norm right now.

Now, if only I could manage this kind of adaptation on every other front, I'd have a lot less stress, but no. I'm still canceling my doctor's appointment for next week, less because of money than because of time; I don't have time to lose half a day right now, and Wings has several appointments coming up this summer. It was only injections for pain, anyway, and they're both very expensive and short-lived, so a few days of a tiny bit of pain relief aren't worth the inconvenience (or the cost) right now. Especially not since the truck has to go back into the shop next week to get a new catalytic converter [new as in refurbished; new new would be $4,200-4,400, instead of $800+, and that's never happening]. But there's the labor on top of that, and the inconvenience of being without truck and so forth, and since it's like that, my time is far better spent on chasing sales. If Wings has the earrings done tonight, I'll have them plus the fabulous new big one that Wings finished a few days ago and I haven't been able to get to yet. The smaller cuff is no longer a cuff [long story, but not an uncommon one in the world of silversmithing]; it looks as though it's being turned into a multi-piece necklace, and that will take a few more days. As always, expect everything to be late; hips, knees, ankles, feet are all very bad right now, and both my hands have decide today that they're going to be uncooperative (and extremely painful) too.
