If only.

There's a lot going on in the photo, and it's hard to tell anyway, because it's shot through two panes of rain-soaked glass, with a frame and a spinner in the way, too.  But that's a young raven in the juniper, thinking he's found an easy meal in the magpie nest, and the entire CLAN of magpies is dive-bombing him. They chased him at two fields south of here, while a few remained to guard the nest.

The magpies are family creatures; everyone pitches in to raise the young, and EVERYONE helps protect them. If only humans would do likewise.

If only.

Four massive rainstorms yesterday, and we're on something like number three today, and still the ground is absorbing it. It's cold, but given the medicine of the rain, nobody's complaining (at least not around here).

But as I said yesterday, it does mean that we're going to find ourselves slammed in trying to get done everything that needs doing over the next couple of weeks. And the pressures don't ease off at all, of course. I will still have the truck repairs to pay for if the damned converter ever comes in, and now we need a part for the fridge that no one will ship. So I need to be chasing sales on every front.
